We asked young, ordinary Europeans to take a look at U.S. policies on everything from food to guns. As they discover facts about America, they’re not impressed.

Sometimes it’s useful to get an outside perspective. In the Video Op-Ed above, Europeans are shocked to learn that the American government does not guarantee social protections that citizens in other advanced economies take for granted.

Their reactions reflect how European governments prioritize citizen welfare, offering national assurances like universal health care and affordable education. Americans have grown accustomed to the exorbitant costs of basic human services, the absence of parental leave protection and the unregulated presence of chemicals in food — things that would “cause riots” in Europe.
It’s true that the United States grapples with a larger and more diverse population than that of any European country. But with the resources of the world’s largest economy and as keepers of the American dream, can’t policymakers find solutions?

IF YOU ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT RIGHT TIME THEN YOU MIGHT BE OK, BUT SORRY ITS OK TO VISIT, WOULDN'T TRUST THEIR HEALTH SYSTEM, THEY WOUKD LET ME DIE,
I'm Australian, and we also shake our heads at the lack of universal basic health care in the US. We have a mix of public & private health care. It's not perfect, but it's a lot better than going bankrupt or dying because you got sick.
As for US gun culture … WTF, 'murica?? 🤔🤔🤔
Europeans learned a lot and made a lot of progress in the revolutions and wars of the 19th-20th century, but the most decadent part of old Europe survived and thrived in America by devouring the flesh and blood of Native Americans , and enjoyed the victories in the two world wars with no injuries———-It was only because of the existence of the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.
no, The rise of the United States is not because they are great, just because they are lucky.
Yes there are social issues but USA is still the most popular immigration destination vs any of these European countries.
When i was younger the US was probably in my top 5 travel destinations.
Now it’s probably close to dropping out of top 30.

At least we speak correctly
In times like these, Americans really stand out when you see incredibly generous and kind people making a difference. But the sad thing is that in the US this just comes from individuals. And a functional health care system, food quality checks and things like maternity care can't be fixed by individuals, you need country wide systems in place for those. And in a country where it's everyone for themselves, you're screwed unless you happen upon one of those kind individuals.
one word: capitalism
LOL Look at them trying to push Marxism and shame Capitalism.
Bro this comment sections putting america in the fight back combo
This is why Europe is much much much better
Taxes are higher for Europeans with free healthcare though, which would break lower income families we have medicare for those who can't afford it and everyone else should look for decent employer who offers healthcare benefits so I can't say our healthcare system is all bad it just sucks when you can't afford medication we should really do something about that.
Americans are so friendly and hospitable.
Oh, yeah, especially in foreign regions, they gift civilians with expensive cartiges to the body.
As a European I think they should ban guns
I thought America was the greatest country for 9 years
