Join live coverage with Libby Casey as the House of Representatives attempts to elect its next speaker. Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) was elected as the GOP speaker nominee late Tuesday, becoming the fourth Republican pick for the post since the ouster of Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) three weeks ago.
To win the gavel, Johnson will need a majority of the full chamber, a threshold the three previous speaker nominees have failed to achieve.
