U.S., Israel strike Iran as Trump calls for regime change 
Explosions rocked multiple cities across Iran after the United States and Israel launched a major offensive on Feb. 28, dramatically escalating tensions in the Middle East.
President Donald Trump said the operation aims to bring “freedom for the people” of Iran, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned the campaign would last “as long as needed.”
Trump also said Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in the operation. Four Israeli security officials similarly said Khamenei died in an airstrike on his Tehran compound, though U.S. officials said they did not immediately have independent confirmation.
