Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan threatened to expel ten ambassadors from his country, seven of whom represent fellow member states of NATO. The move stems from the ambassadors signing onto an open letter urging the release of a Turkish businessman associated with the political opposition. Erdogan reversed his decision at the last minute when the gesture’s economic repercussions became clear. This comes as friction steadily intensifies between Turkey and the EU over Erdogan’s human rights record and disagreements between Turkey and its NATO bedfellows over Turkey’s desire to buy and use military equipment from Russia without giving up US-made F-35s. Former Pentagon official Michael Maloof provides his analysis, placing the move in the broader context of Erdogan’s drive to assert Turkish hegemony in the region and Turkey’s resistance to falling in line with either Russia’s or Washington’s geopolitical ambitions.

Police acted to rein in anti-immigrant gang on the border between Germany and Poland over the weekend. More than 50 far-right vigilantes were apprehended. Authorities confiscated pepper spray, batons and a machete. RT’s Peter Oliver reports on Europe’s escalating immigration headache.

The White House has again delayed the declassification of files associated with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. The White House blamed the COVID-19 pandemic in part for the delay, saying it had backed up the work of reviewing the files’ contents. It comes on the heels of a postponement in declassifying the same files in 2017 by the Trump administration. Tyrel Ventura, host of “Watching the Hawks,” joins RT America’s John Huddy to discuss.

Plus, RT America’s Trinity Chavez reports on revelations concerning uneven enforcement of Facebook’s purported standards of speech and behavior on its platform when a study has shown that in screening “hate speech” on its platform it consistently acted in view of its own interest. Then RT America’s Natasha Sweatte reports a recent example of “cancel culture” in Dorian Abbot’s disinvitation from M.I.T. over an unrelated op-ed he wrote criticizing the privileging of “diversity” and racial “equity” in university applications. The push to “cancel” Abbot backfired spectacularly.
