
ICE agents have arrived at several airports, including in Atlanta, New Orleans and Phoenix, to assist with TSA staffing shortages. ICE agents were also seen at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said that “federal officials have indicated that this deployment is not intended to conduct immigration enforcement activities.”
But in social media posts over the weekend, President Trump also suggested ICE agents would be arresting undocumented immigrants at airports.
TSA agents have been working without pay during the partial government shutdown. Staff shortages have caused lengthy delays at airports nationwide.
