
More than 250 music insiders were polled and six New York Times critics weighed in to create a list of the “30 Greatest Living American Songwriters.” (Taylor Swift, Jay-Z and Lucinda Williams all made the cut.) “I don’t think our task was making a list,” says Jon Caramanica, a host of the @Popcast show. “I think our task was expanding and re-examining the notion of American songcraft.”
