Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson’s marathon Senate hearings wrapped for a third day as she continued to fend off Republican attacks on her sentencing record and provided insight on how she would rule, if confirmed, as the nation’s first Black woman on the high court.

Jackson, who currently serves on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, sought to cast herself as an independent jurist who remains committed to the constitutional “constraints” on her authority and would work to restore public trust in the high court.
