Here is the transcript of the New York Times podcast that has me hoarse from pillow-screaming:

I am appalled that the New York Times host Michael Barbara did not ask a single tough question or push back on these crazy recommendations at all. This is not journalism at all, its a paid advertisement for big pharma and hospitals needing to increase their high profit surgeries. The NY Times should hang its head in shame for providing free advertising for the BS.

Want my solution? Unfortunately, the problem is systemic. Were our federal, state, and local governments to actually promote the welfare of citizens rather than corporate interests this problem would be difficult, but straightforward to fix. The problem is that virtually all our representatives at the state and federal levels have to answer to the corporations that provided all the money to get them elected. Agribusiness,, pharma, and medical care donate huge sums so their interests get represented. Unless we can get rid of one dollar, one vote, and get back to one person one vote, the problem will never be solved.
