Right now, abortion is a serious crime – and Brazilian women risk up to three years in prison for ending their pregnancies. In a new Opinion Video adapted from the feature documentary “Incompatible with Life,” Brazilian filmmaker Eliza Capai shares her personal experience and calls on the country to protect its women from dangerous, underground procedures and the threat of incarceration. “Do we want to live in a country whose laws torture its citizens?” she asks. “Or do we want to join our neighbors, like Colombia and Mexico, that faced the reality by decriminalizing abortion?”
