In the mid-1990s, the singer and songwriter Kim Hill met a young rapper who suggested they start making music. That rapper’s name was, and his group was a rising Los Angeles underground hip-hop crew called The Black Eyed Peas. The rest is history — or is it?

Hill found herself at a crossroads in 2000 and decided to quit the group and find her own voice, only to look on as The Black Eyed Peas reached global stardom with earworms like “I Gotta Feeling.” Having missed out on what every performer dreams of, does Hill regret her decision?

“Almost Famous” is a special Op-Docs series of short films directed by Ben Proudfoot featuring people who nearly made history — only to fall short. These are tales of overcoming disappointment at its most epic, from an astronaut who never flew to a superstar who never was.

  1. Hey, everybody. I’m Ben, the filmmaker and creator of the ALMOST FAMOUS series. Happy to answer any questions!

  2. Interesting to see the Black Eyed Peas in their early days. Also interesting enough to know that Kim Hill was the original female singer for them back in the early years.

  3. U Made the right choice ….u know why ….cause Fergie and all of them selled at the end of time theyre bodies they Souls they time Just to get famous …..u can sleep with both eyes closed …..they Not ….im Sure u believed more in God than in the evil and devil …u Made a good decision …im proud in that what u have spoken and more in that what u did….♠️🎯👌🏽👊🏽💪🏼💪🏼❤️

  4. This chick represents a time when Black Eyed Peas were good. Respect to her. She kept her integrity, and dignity and clearly still does so. She made the right and good choices and she knows it. 🙌

  5. So inspiring. It takes courage to walk away from something that doesn’t resonate with you anymore. I know.

  6. This was a beautiful video and she seems like a beautiful person. I wish they would do a longer documentary about her, I could listen to her anecdotes for hours

  7. I hate the way this was filmed, there's really no need for her to be so close to the camera but I still enjoyed this. However, it kinda sounds like the guys effectively sold out in order to escape that negative environment they were in, they still made good music with Fergie but their songs were much more commercial and generic.

  8. Has Kim and Fergie still haven’t met? I loved the song they played when the black eyed peas still started out… listening to her I know she is such a good mother.. the mother I wish I had 🩹❤️

  9. some people are willing to do anything for fame and cash and some just aren't PERIOD but i never met a rich man without a guilty conscience

  10. So she is like the 5th Beatle.I mean she missed out. While they continue to remain famous and extremely rich she on the other hand is a nobody.Oh well.SUCKS TO BE HER ! Cause up until this video came on I had no idea this chick even existed.
