The House of Representatives on Wednesday passed legislation that could ban TikTok in the U.S. The bill, if passed, would force the social media platform to divest from its Chinese-based parent company ByteDance within six months or be banned from U.S. app stores and web-hosting services. Lawmakers have raised concerns about TikTok’s ties to the Chinese Community Party. If it passes in the House, the bill is expected to face obstacles in the Senate.
