Irish actor Paul Mescal, known for his role in Normal People, is nominated for Best Actor at this year’s Oscars for his role in Aftersun.
Mescal explained in an interview with the Today programme about how “there’s stuff going on at home that is difficult,” in reference to his mother’s current treatment for cancer.
The actor said his nomination “has given my family a very welcome respite, and we’re going to have a great time as a family.”
