
Three people are dead after being found unresponsive in a New Mexico home and more than a dozen first responders had to be quarantined and assessed for possible exposure to an unidentified substance after being called for a suspected drug overdose on May 20, authorities said.
“A tragedy like this is horrific,” said Mountainair Mayor Peter Nieto.
New Mexico State Police said there was no threat to the public.
“At this time, investigators believe the substance may be transmitted through contact and do not believe it to be airborne,” said Officer Wilson Silver.
